Hey, "C.D. Baby!”

Where's the Money?

By James Rodrigues

Thanks, in large part, to the interest of the fine people of the San Francisco Bay Area, (as of 11-8-06) my name has climbed to the very top of the "Jim Rodrigues" half-million page Yahoo list. It also is standing atop the almost million-strong "Jim Rodrigues" Google list. It has also quickly ascended to number twenty on the 100 million-plus page, "sound of the city" Yahoo standings. We send a big "thank you" to everyone involved.

So far, "C.D. Baby," which handles the sales of our C.D.s for a $3.00 per unit fee, has sent "Rodrigues" exactly zero requests for C.D.s. An early November phone call to "C.D. Baby" brought an icy-voiced response that claimed "Rodrigues" had, "zero sales and a thousand hits." Obviously, a thousand hits wouldn't even dent the above lists. So, what's up?

We are not posting this editorial in order to create problems for anyone. We are just wondering how we can have attained a huge number of hits and not have any sales at all. The entire situation makes jimmyrod.com somewhat nervous. Is there a "C.D. Baby" operating within "C.D. Baby" destroying the dreams of their recording artist/customers? Who knows?

If the high positions on the above search lists are correct and, per the internet, they must be, sales would inevitably occur. According to "C.D. Baby" no such "Rodrigues-Sound of the City" sales have occurred (nada, zilch, nemo, zip). The odds against that particular "C.D. Baby" shutout are longer than getting hit with a bolt of lightning and winning the super lotto on the same day.

If those seemingly inevitable orders for our 14-song compact disk ARE occurring, where are they? Are they being filled? "Rodrigues" has agreed to supply the compact disks to "C.D. Baby" as part of the standard $3.00 per unit to "C.D. Baby"/$9.97 to "Rodrigues" agreement. Is "C.D. Baby" as ignorant as they claim to be? Has some other business entity grabbed the benefits of this incredible number of hits? If so, are they supplying counterfeit c.d.s to the buyers or, more likely, simply taking the money and leaving "Rodrigues" holding the C.D. supplying "bag."

Under the increased possibility of the above nightmares, these are necessary, fair and timely questions. There is no accusation here, just a request for a thorough and logical explanation of a seemingly mathematically impossible phenomenon. How can something excel on the worldwide web and simultaneously get totally stiffed in the interconnected "C.D. Baby" marketplace.

This Jimmyrod.com editorial is being posted at this moment to officially establish the time frame in which jimmyrod.com became suspicious of this situation and why we became suspicious.
